Three quantities govern different parts of the procedure. Five phone attempts are available and two have been used, leaving three by subtraction. The application wants ninety days of material from his life. His thumb may keep working for one day, perhaps two. An attempt count, a span of source material and an estimate of bodily viability cannot be combined into one measure of success. The later use of the remaining attempts is not narrated.
The hand carries incompatible demands. Holding it recalls earlier intimacy while keeping a sensor usable. Warming the thumb against the neck puts bodily contact to work as authentication. The application can request his private life but cannot ask him. Putting the hand back does not turn the access already gained into his consent. No instruction has just one beneficiary whose interests explain everything it asks.
The final sequence includes an empty place. Instruction nine returns the hand; ten supplies a number without an instruction. Eleven offers the side she used as somewhere to sit, without a charge or obligation. Twelve denies ownership. The woman referred to, the place and the relationships remain unnamed. The gap and the pronoun are left intact.
