This is a new narration of the final City Guide. It follows the relationships examined by its one hundred and eighty diagrams. You do not need the pictures. Instead of describing where a box sits or how an arrow bends, it follows amounts, objects, claims and actions from one part of an arrangement to another.
The guide discusses endings and connections across the book. Listen after a story, or after the whole collection, if you want to encounter its surprises first. A character’s claim remains a claim. A record can disagree with a body, another record or itself. When the story withholds a name, motive, unit or outcome, this narration does not invent one.
The book has five parts. This companion pauses after each group of ten works, then turns to an atlas and a reference section. There are fifty-nine numbered stories and a final, unnumbered title story. Its figures complete the same sequence, but the narration keeps its title unnumbered. You can stop between stories and return through the document’s bookmarks.
The earlier guide and narration were consulted as a precedent for listening-friendly form. The explanations here were written from the current revised guide. The city now contains named people, disagreement within authority, useful kindness, coercion and systems that sometimes fail. Neither a flawless apparatus nor an entirely powerless one explains what happens.
