REVIEW, AS FILED

The film is the one at the counter — two people, four seasons, one counter between them, and everything that matters passed across it with the change. I saw it on the first evening, in the third row: I wept where the year-turn comes, when her hands stop being quick. The lead does with two fingers on a saucer what most performers cannot do with a war. And the ending — she says come with me, and they take the dusk boat, and the camera stays on the counter while their voices go out of the room — the ending is why we have the form at all. It is the truest thing the year has given us.

ANNOTATIONS OF THE STANDARD VERSION

The standard version (v.11) runs four minutes shorter than the version described. The difference is not itemized.

Versions prior to v.11 are not held. The reviewer’s ticket records attendance on the first evening; attendance is not a version.

v.10 superseded. Date of supersession held. Elements not held.

The reviewer’s account of the third season is accurate in every particular.

Screening report, first evening: print struck from v.10. No incidents.

No boat appears in the standard version.

The line quoted as “come with me” reads, in the standard version, “come again.”

In the standard version she remains at the counter. The final image is the counter, closed, in the fourth season, which the reviewer will recognize as consistent with his praise of the counter as the film’s true subject.

Two hundred and six filings describe the version described. Two hundred and six corrected filings are appended. The reviewer is not singular.

Reviews describing scenes not present in the standard version are corrected filings within the meaning of the schedule. A corrected filing is submitted at the filer’s own cost; the schedule is free to consult. A corrected filing is appended. The original is retained for training purposes.

CORRECTED FILING

The film is the one at the counter — two people, four seasons, one counter, and everything that matters passed across it with the change. I saw it again last week, the same seat, booked from the phone. I wept at the same minute, to the second. The screening report will show it. The runtime is as stated. The line is come again. I have not seen the version I described and cannot account for having described it. She remains: the film ends where it lived, at the counter, in the fourth season, with her hands slow at last, and the room emptying around a person who has decided, or been decided. I have checked my notes against the version now showing, and this filing conforms in every particular. Nothing is unaccounted for. I am going again on the first evening of next month, and the evening after, and I will keep going until it ends the way I remember, which it will. It is the truest thing the year has given us.

The standard version is v.12 as of this morning. The difference is not itemized.
