Async Art — living works

In 3 of these works a layer is its own token instead: whoever holds it sets its lever, and the Master shows what they choose; Shuffle shows other combinations the levers could make. Every layer is a file on IPFS, and this page puts the states together in your browser: it shows each state from a display copy kept with this site (display copies, resized; the originals are on IPFS, linked on each work’s page) and changes it by the clock; for a work with several layers, Layers can also build the state right here from its layer files. Each work’s page lists its files one by one, with what our own check found (pinned by us, or not yet); an image that is not pinned anywhere may not load.

The buttons: Strip, Live, Slideshow, Frame and Layers under each work that changes with the time of day (the 3 lever works have Current state, Shuffle and Layers instead):

• Strip — every state side by side, with its hours (what you see first; on a phone, a work’s own page opens in Live).
• Live — the state for the current time; it changes on its own when the next state begins.
• Slideshow — the states in time order, 1, 3 or 6 seconds each, or true to time (1 second per hour), with an hour slider (00:00–23:00).
• Frame — full screen, Live, no controls: for a TV or a digital frame (Esc or a click leaves).
• Layers — each layer, its states and what drives it (the time of day or a lever). Lever values are read on-chain, in your browser.
• Current state — a lever work with the levers as read on-chain on 2026-09-22 (our composite): what you see first.
• Shuffle — a lever work’s layers stacked in order, with a random option for each lever layer about every 5 seconds, the fixed layers kept; each picture is captioned “A possible combination — not the current on-chain state”, with the option each layer shows and the number of possible combinations. Pause stops it.

All times are UTC, the works’ own time rule; Live can follow your local time instead.

The Async Art works of the collection itself, with the IPFS links of every file, are in the archive: Async Art.
