Where We Stopped
What Was Built, What Remains Unproven, and How Others May Continue
Uncommon Reality v2.0.0 - Author-Completed Open Continuation
Owner and author: Hulki Okan Tabak
Edition status: Author-completed / research-open / independently continuable / not validated
Publication condition: Public only at its registered immutable path after authorized, verified release
Document role: Final statement of the author-led phase; not a theory-confirmation claim
Disclosure and exact status
Uncommon Reality is an author-led systems-theory research and publication project. It used AI-assisted research, drafting, software implementation, editorial synthesis, and simulated intellectual standpoints. Named historical and contemporary figures did not participate, speak, review, vote, endorse, or co-author the work. The simulated groups were a criticism method, not evidence or independent review.
This release-gated edition records a responsible stopping point. It does not announce that the problem has been solved, that Repair-Lag Systems Theory is a universal law, or that any named domain has been adequately explained. Publication through its registered immutable path, after every required gate and explicit authorization, marks completion of Hulki Okan Tabak's author-led reference phase while leaving the research programme open to independent testing, criticism, rejection, adaptation, and continuation. The document does not by itself establish repository, deployment, or live-publication state.
Why this is a stopping point rather than intellectual closure
The project began with a question: why do highly capable societies appear unable to coordinate repair across climate, public reality, care, trust, institutional legitimacy, and other conditions on which they depend?
That question has no definitive endpoint. A live theory can always be tested against another case, rival, time period, or moral objection. Continuing indefinitely would not itself produce stronger evidence. At this stage the author has used the available time, tools, and resources to make the problem, the proposed framework, its rivals, its mistakes, and its unfinished tests inspectable. Stopping here is therefore a governance decision, not an intellectual victory.
The problem addressed
The project's compressed research question is:
In a defined episode, does a specified destabilizing pressure outrun a legitimate repair process and predeclared adequacy criterion - and does Repair-Lag explain the result better than serious rivals?
Repair-Lag Systems Theory is the provisional synthesis spine. Reality and Meaning Mediation is a lens. Synthetic Reality Capture is a defensive provenance module. Reproductive Agency, Care, and Life Scripts is an agency-and-care module. Earlier Theories A, B, and C remain mechanism ancestors. This hierarchy is intended to prevent a set of related ideas from becoming one total explanation.
What the project built
The author-led phase produced:
- a readable public essay and structured reader pathway;
- a provisional D/E/F/G theory architecture with explicit ethical limits;
- typed claim, case, source, evidence, objection, revision, and edition registries;
- serious rival explanations, visible gaps, falsifiers, and revision consequences;
- three legacy illustration cases and two full retrospective comparison records;
- the Vienna-Montreal ozone case as a successful-repair comparison and North American acid-deposition control as a general boundary comparison;
- infrastructure for a prospective test, held behind an outcome-inspection firewall;
- immutable public editions, checksums, lineage, report/narration pairing, and preservation rules;
- a static public site with print-to-PDF guidance, canonical sharing, narration companions where separately edited, and a strict public/private publication boundary;
- an explicit self-criticism and improvement programme; and
- a clean-continuation design so others can begin from reviewed public material without inheriting private prompts, raw audits, or stale operating history.
These are achievements in conceptual organization, editorial transparency, software, and publication governance. They are not empirical confirmation.
What the present evidence supports
The present record supports a modest conclusion: Repair-Lag can be stated as a bounded comparative question and represented in a way that distinguishes pressure, sensing, legitimacy, coordination, action, recovery, power, and rival explanations.
The two developed retrospective cases show that the method can distinguish institutional control from pressure reversal and physical recovery. They also show why slow ecological recovery is not automatically continuing institutional failure. This is useful method evidence. It does not demonstrate that one causal theory explains climate, fertility, propaganda, belief, care, or authoritarian politics.
No completed prospective discriminating test favors Repair-Lag over a serious rival. No real domain, methods, philosophy-of-science, affected-party, rights-holder, or accessibility review has validated the project. The strongest theory-level claims therefore remain provisional, frontier, developing, or case-illustrated as their canonical records specify.
What was repaired after self-criticism
The project learned that a large source count, a polished dashboard, a simulated forum, a passing test suite, or an attractive publication can look like warrant without being warrant. Later releases therefore:
- separated claims, research questions, and method commitments;
- separated theory role from research maturity;
- typed evidence edges instead of counting adjacent sources;
- added serious rivals and revision actions;
- distinguished successful repair, failure illustration, and boundary cases;
- stopped treating physical response time as an institutional lag;
- preserved reproductive agency and anti-coercion boundaries;
- kept synthetic-media work defensive and provenance-oriented;
- made simulated-standpoint limits prominent;
- separated immutable editions from browser-saved convenience copies;
- added separate report and narration identities;
- made publication source ownership, lifecycle, checksums, and private boundaries testable; and
- kept T001 as infrastructure only rather than narrating a design stub as a research event.
These repairs improve honesty and reproducibility. They do not retroactively validate the theory.
What remains unproven or absent
| Area | Exact remaining limit |
|---|---|
| Prospective evidence | T001 remains design_stub / infrastructure_only / not_inspected; zero prospective discriminating tests are complete. |
| Cases | CS001-CS003 remain legacy illustrations; C7 still lacks a direct carbon-dioxide-sector boundary case. |
| Sources | Pinpoints, freshness coverage, contradiction mapping, and some citation verification remain incomplete. |
| External legitimacy | Zero verified real external/domain/affected-party reviews have occurred. |
| Accessibility | Mobile, actual screen reader, 200%/400% zoom, forced colors, no-JavaScript, printer/OS, tagged-PDF, and real-reader gates remain open. |
| Generalization | Cross-domain applicability and theory-level causal advantage over rivals are not established. |
| Security | Publication controls are not a penetration test, comprehensive privacy audit, or full supply-chain assurance. |
What v2.0.0 completes on publication
Authorized, verified publication of version 2.0.0 completes the author-led reference edition by:
- publishing this stopping-point report and a separately edited narration companion;
- making the stopping point visible from the homepage and permanent site navigation;
- adding a coherent Apple Home Screen icon, favicon, web manifest, and social sharing image;
- removing third-party analytics from the frozen official site;
- establishing Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licensing for the shipped corpus where the author can grant those rights, with no executable-code or MIT grant in the successor;
- documenting provenance, governance, citation, security, third-party boundaries, and continuation rules; and
- preparing a clean-history successor repository rather than exposing the private operating repository.
The existing private repository remains the sealed archive and official-site deployment authority. It must remain private. Any public successor has to begin as a new empty private repository, receive a fail-closed curated export, and pass a complete private audit before a separate explicit owner authorization changes its visibility. This immutable report does not by itself establish whether a successor exists or is public; verified repository metadata governs that mutable operational fact.
How to test, reject, adapt, or continue it
Independent continuations should begin with one of five bounded tracks:
- complete and adversarially lock T001 before inspecting any outcome;
- deepen CS001-CS003, add the missing C7 domain boundary, and verify source pinpoints;
- obtain real domain, methods, philosophy-of-science, affected-party, and rights-holder review;
- conduct real mobile, screen-reader, zoom, forced-colors, and reader-comprehension work, then create tagged or equivalently accessible successor editions; or
- improve reproducibility and supply-chain assurance without presenting software quality as theory confirmation.
A continuation should preserve the strongest rival, a discriminating prediction, the evidence needed to revise or retire the claim, affected-party standing, rights, distribution, and the difference between analysis and authority to intervene. Unresolved epistemic fields should remain not_yet_defined; they should not be filled for presentation.
Forks may disagree radically, rename their derivative work, split or reject the theory, use different methods, or retire claims. They must not imply endorsement by Hulki Okan Tabak or participation by any simulated named standpoint.
Provenance, license, and independence
Any public continuation repository carrying this reference must be a clean-history export of reviewed public-safe material from the private canonical baseline. It excludes prompts, handoffs, private cockpit records, raw audits, internal review packets, stale branches, outcome-protected T001 working material, and other material not approved for publication. Its public manifest may not disclose private source paths; the source crosswalk remains sealed in the private repository.
The clean successor ships no executable code or build configuration and makes no MIT grant. Original authored text, public-safe data compilations, diagrams, and brand assets are offered under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 to the extent the author holds the relevant rights. Cited publications, quotations, third-party marks, dependencies, and excluded private material are not relicensed. Exact corpus scope is governed by LICENSES.md in the public repository. Any future fork that adds code must declare the license for that added code explicitly; no code license is inferred from this corpus.
The official v2.0.0 reference may receive bounded security, privacy, rights, attribution, preservation, reproducibility, broken-link, and accessibility corrections only during the verified 30-day correction window governed by the public successor. Exact dates, repository URL, release ref, and archival state belong to current repository metadata, not this immutable PDF. Substantive theory and research should continue independently in forks. A separately verified archival action may freeze the author-led record while preserving the ability to fork it.
Final author statement
We did not solve the problem or validate a universal theory. We made the problem, our attempted framework, its evidence, its failures, its rivals, and the conditions for continuing or rejecting it substantially more visible. Publication of this edition marks completion of Hulki Okan Tabak's author-led reference phase. The work remains open for independent criticism, testing, rejection, adaptation, and continuation.
That is the stopping point this edition records.
