Public Ethics and Misuse Guide

Status: v1.0 public ethics guide.

Purpose: Prevent the project from becoming a tool for coercion, propaganda, fatalism, or false totality.

Core principle

The project should explain systems without treating people as system inputs.

Fertility ethics

The fertility track must never be used to shame, coerce, or instrumentalize people.

Rules:

1. Use “reproductive agency” before “birth rate.”
2. Treat wanting no children as a legitimate reproductive outcome.
3. Treat blocked desire for children as a justice problem.
4. Focus on care, health, housing, gender equality, safety, and future confidence.
5. Reject ethnic, nationalist, racial, or authoritarian pronatalism.
6. Avoid language that implies women owe reproduction to the state, nation, economy, religion, or civilization.

Propaganda and synthetic-media ethics

The propaganda track must remain defensive.

Rules:

1. Do not provide manipulation playbooks.
2. Do not optimize for persuasion or deception.
3. Focus on provenance, verification, resilience, education, and institutional trust.
4. Distinguish dissent from manipulation.
5. Avoid turning “reality repair” into censorship language.
6. Preserve uncertainty when evidence is incomplete.

Climate ethics

Climate analysis must avoid fatalism and technocratic contempt.

Rules:

1. Keep physical climate evidence central.
2. Include inequality, responsibility, and historical emissions.
3. Distinguish denial, delay, lock-in, and implementation difficulty.
4. Avoid blaming ordinary individuals for system-level infrastructure lock-in.
5. Identify repair pathways, not only doom loops.

Belief and spirituality ethics

The belief track must avoid ridicule and flattening.

Rules:

1. Do not mock spiritual practices.
2. Distinguish spirituality, religion, wellness, therapy, conspiracy, and exploitation.
3. Recognize that traditional institutions can harm and repair.
4. Recognize that new meaning markets can liberate and exploit.
5. Treat belief as a human repair need, not merely irrational residue.

Systems-theory ethics

Systems theory can become dangerous when it sees people only as variables.

Rules:

1. No false totality: do not claim final explanation.
2. No dehumanization: never reduce persons to outputs.
3. No authoritarian simplification: complexity does not justify rule by experts.
4. No despair aesthetics: diagnosis must seek repair.
5. No immunity from critique: every claim needs objection and revision path.

Publication ethics

Public pages should include visible status labels:

• provisional;
• contested;
• supported;
• speculative;
• internal-only;
• public-ready;
• requires review.

Anything involving fertility, propaganda, synthetic media, political extremism, or AI must include misuse-risk notes.

The do-no-harm standard

A project output fails if a reasonable reader could use it to:

• pressure reproduction;
• build propaganda;
• excuse censorship;
• deny climate responsibility;
• ridicule belief communities;
• launder authoritarian ideology;
• claim settled truth where uncertainty remains.

The fix is not silence. The fix is careful framing, explicit boundaries, and adversarial review.
