Research questionRQ1 asks about an unevidenced causal pathway; it is not a public conclusion.

Method commitmentM1 requires the project to expose objections, gaps, and revisions.

Evidence limitsContext and illustrations are not causal support. Missing values remain visible as evidence gaps.

The recommended path

A case role tells you what comparison a case can perform. It is not a score, a proof label, or permission to promote a claim.

CS001, CS002, and CS003 expose bounded settings where a repair problem may exist. They do not establish the proposed causal mechanism.

CS004 tests institutional control and pressure reversal while keeping incomplete substrate recovery visible.

CS005 asks where slow physical or biogeochemical recovery should narrow an institutional-failure interpretation.

Name the population, domain, period, or outcome for which the wording is too broad.

State what a competing explanation predicts differently, not merely that another factor matters.

Point to an observation that should lower confidence or force revision.

Failure, successful repair, and boundary cases must remain distinct.
